Who are the Team GB athletes to watch in 2024?
With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games right around the corner, Great Britain’s athletes are trying their best to make sure they shine on the international stage. The UK is currently the only team that has participated in every Olympic tournament, winning gold in every edition stretching back to 1896.
From sprinter Darlyll Neita to professional diver Andrea Spendolini-Siriex, here are the top four Great Britain athletes to watch in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic games.
Andrea Spendolini-Siriex
With two Commonwealth wins, an Olympic game, and two world championship medals, Andrea Spendoloni steps into the 2024 Paris Games hungry for hardware. In 2024, the 19-year-old claimed three medals in Doha’s World Aquatic Championship in February. Spendolini also won the Individual Women 10 M platform during the British Diving Championship to secure a spot for the Paris Olympics this summer.
During the 2020 Tokyo Games, Spendolini (at 16 years) was the youngest athlete in the British Diving team and managed to progress through the female 10m platform finals where she ranked 7th. She also went ahead to claim two gold medals during the 2023 Commonwealth Games.
Daryll Neita
After his success during the 2024 Diamond League, there’s a glimmer of hope for Daryll Neita who will be looking for individual athletics medals during the Paris Olympic Games. The 27-year-old is among the best British Sprinters you can back using the Coral Connect Card bonus for bettors, considering his victory at the Diamond League in 2024, including his 200M win in China last April.
Daryll Neita also won the 100M race in Doha a fortnight later, edging American sprinter Tamari by less than a second. The London-born athlete is currently the second-fastest female athlete in the history of Great Britain and she hopes to advance her record in Paris alongside athletes like Imani Lara Lanisquot and Dina Asher-Smith.
Jake Jarman
Four-time Commonwealth Games winner and 2023 world vault Champion Jake Jarman is among the best artistic gymnasts to follow at the 2024 Olympic Games. Jake impressed fans throughout 2023 after becoming the first athlete to complete the 3.5 twisting double layout salto at the floor exercise. This skill is now known as the Jarman and it’s been part of the Code of Points since last September.
Jarman’s gold medal performance during the World Gymnastic Championship gave his first individual medal in the international stage and added to his 2022 team bronze medal. The 22-year-old has only graced the major international stage for a few years, and you can expect him to make a lot of headlines during the 2024 Paris Olympic games this summer.
Toby Roberts
In 2022, Tobey Roberts became the first Great Britain sport climber to win the World Cup Gold in 28 years, and two years later he is only getting better. After winning the World Cup medal at only 17 years old, Rober went ahead to obtain an Olympic Quota in 2023 and took a win during the IFSC Lead World Cup. The star athlete has been breaking climbing records over the last eight years and he hopes to secure an Olympic medal this year.
