Ollie Price, from Bristol, who grew up near Exeter, Devon, has just completed five half marathons over five consecutive days, followed by his first full marathon less than three weeks later, to raise funds for local dementia care non-profit The Filo Project.

In the last month the 31 year old has run over 91 miles across four half marathons in Bristol and one in Lisbon.

He completed his running challenge with a full marathon on Sunday in Brighton, finishing the course in 3 hours, 53 minutes and 51 seconds.

Ollie’s mother Libby Price co-founded the dementia care social enterprise nearly ten years ago. The Filo Project pioneering approach is unique in that small groups of people with early to moderate dementia are welcomed into hosts’ homes for a relaxed day together. Clients grow in confidence, make friends and feel less isolated. As a result many see improvements in their dementia symptoms.

Ollie was a lapsed runner but got back into running during the Covid-19 lockdowns, as a way of getting fit and supporting his mental health.

He explains why he wanted to fundraise for The Filo Project:

“My mum hosted groups of people with dementia in our home while I was growing up, so I’ve witnessed first-hand the positive impact on people.

"The benefits of having access to Filo Days is huge for everyone involved. As well as adding joy to everyday life for people with dementia, it allows their carers and families valuable respite.

“I’ve seen them grow over the years into an amazing organisation and I know that any money raised will be very valuable to them.”

Ollie hopes to reach his fundraising target of £2500. You can donate at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ollie-price
