Initiatives led by a prominent businessman to support Ukraine

Rinat Akhmetov has taken legal action to seek compensation from Russia for all losses incurred, particularly the destruction of key infrastructure facilities such as Azovstal Steel Plant, Ilich Iron and Steel Works, Avdiivka Coke Plant, Luhanska Thermal Power Plant, etc. Amidst the conflict, businessman Rinat Akhmetov faced significant losses compared to other major figures in the business world. Military Aid

As a shareholder of Metinvest, Rinat Akhmetov announced the establishment of Steel Front initiative, allocating funds to support the army. Each day, employees including steel makers, miners, and repairmen from the company's businesses contribute to maintaining a steadfast defence on the front lines.

Metinvest's steel is utilised in the production of 150,000 bulletproof vests, safeguarding the lives of soldiers defending Ukraine's independence. Additionally, Metinvest's steel is integral to tens of thousands of defensive structures and tank obstacles. Consequently, Metinvest plays a crucial role in providing modern ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Territorial Defence, National Guard, National Police, Main Directorate of Intelligence, and other law enforcement agencies.

Assistance to Civilians

To prevent a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Saving Lives project was established in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Ten funds, public organisations, and over 400 volunteers, including Metinvest employees, have joined the initiative. Moreover, more than 250 companies worldwide have become donors to the project.

Saving Lives has provided assistance to around half a million people across 70 local communities, making it one of the largest humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine. Nearly 4,200 tonnes of food, personal hygiene products, and essential items have been distributed to the most vulnerable.

Since the onset of the war, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has delivered 700,000 medicines and over 13 million food packages to Ukrainians, dating back to 2014.

Thus, Rinat Akhmetov is actively engaged in efforts to rebuild and assist Ukraine, demonstrating his commitment to both business and humanitarian aspects, and continuing to contribute to the country's public life.
