A solicitor with over 30 years of experience has joined The Family Law Company in Exeter.

Stuart Smallman grew up in Birmingham where a chance meeting with a barrister when he was a college student sparked a lifelong interest in law.

On qualifying, he practiced in the Midlands including Birmingham and Lichfield. Although he initially worked in a variety of legal areas including litigation and Wills, Stuart was drawn to family. He began specialising in family law, including children, care work and his favourite specialist area, matrimonial finance.

The Family Law Company is running a family fundraising quiz for domestic abuse charity FearFree.

We are hoping to raise £1000 for the charity and we would love as many people to get involved as possible!

We are looking for teams of between 6-8 people (at least one team member must be under 16) to test their knowledge in our family quiz.

Entry is £20 per team and there will be prizes for first, second and third place.

The FORCE Santa Cycle is back on Saturday 19th November 2022 but with a twist!

The traditional Topsham to Exmouth route remains but there is NOW the option to ride in the opposite direction.

Riders will cycle six miles from Topsham Rugby Club to Exmouth along the stunning Exe Estuary Trail, starting at 11am.

Success for Exeter Legal Aid Lawyer in national awards

Grace Bradley from The Family Law Company is celebrating after being named the Family Law Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year at the national Legal Aid Awards.

Senior Associate Solicitor Grace was recognised for her work representing legal aid clients in the UK and abroad. Most of her cases are complex and involve issues including domestic violence and international elements such as immigration. Grace utilises her linguistic skills to represent clients with little or no English who have an uphill struggle to access justice.

It was a positive start to the year as The Family Law Company welcomed four new starters to the teams in Exeter and Plymouth.

The growth in cases concerning children and domestic abuse during the lockdown months is well documented. Solicitor Hannah Duddridge has been engaged in Exeter to join the busy Children and Domestic Abuse Response team.
