Exeter firm scoops Builders’ Merchant of the Year for third year running
Bradfords Building Supplies, which has a popular branch in Exeter, has won Builders’ Merchant of the Year (21-50 branches) at the latest annual Builders’ Merchants Awards, for the third year in a row.
The family-run business was first established in the South West just over 250 years ago and also won the Sustainable & Environmental Initiative of the Year for its efforts to educate and support local constructors and home renovators in making environmentally sustainable choices for their building projects.
Now in its 20th year, the Builders’ Merchants Awards is the longest running in the sector and is held in partnership with the Builders Merchants Federation. The awards aim to showcase the best and the brightest in the merchant industry and Bradfords faced competition from firms around the country in both categories.
David Young, CEO at Bradfords Building Supplies, said: “It’s an honour to have won Builders’ Merchant of the Year for a third year in a row and it’s a real testament to all our staff who have worked so hard – especially given the big changes we’ve faced as a sector over the past couple of years.
“We work in a fantastic industry and, by working together, we can continue to innovate and adapt as we look to the year ahead.”
Bradfords’ Head of Sustainability, Giles Bradford, added: “We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year on our efforts to support the construction industry in meeting the government’s net zero targets and to enhance our own environmental sustainability. This included the launch of our ‘Building Sustainable Communities’ event series, which aims to inspire, inform and engage the communities we work with on achieving long-term environmental and social sustainability for the built environment.
“To have these efforts recognised in this way is a great achievement, but we know there’s so much more we need to do and we’re always looking for new ways to help our customers to make more sustainable choices.”
The awards ceremony took place on 4th February 2022 at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge and was hosted by comedian Tom Allen.
