COVID 19 has had a devastating impact on charities revenues with mass event cancellations and charity shop closures. In a bid to weather the pandemic, local charity Exeter Leukaemia Fund (Elf) has been busy contacting celebrities and sports personalities with a plea for donations for their ‘Celebrity Lockdown Auction’.

Exeter Chiefs rugby stars are amongst the celebrities and sports donors with a selection of signed and worn league and national kit, from their homes. These items will feature alongside various other sport star donations including a signed shirt from footballer...

Exeter Chiefs Foundation donates record amounts during lockdown

The Exeter Chiefs Foundation has distributed funds totalling more than £200,000 since lockdown began.

Despite not being able to gather at Sandy Park as usual because of social distancing rules, the trustees met via Zoom to ensure vital funds were still being shared.

Among the charities and organisations to benefit were Living Options Devon, Exmouth Beach Wheelchair Project, Topsham Bowling Club and Farms For City Children.

The single largest donation of £100,000 was made to Exeter Community Wellbeing – a COVID-19 response service set up by Exeter City Council...

Steenson agrees contract extension at Chiefs

The cast list of Exeter’s promotion-winning heroes of 2010 may be dwindling, but one of them is at least set to extend his stay with the Chiefs for a while longer.

Long-serving fly-half Gareth Steenson has today put pen to paper on a contract extension that will allow him to see out the remainder of the 2019/20 season with the Devon club.

Like club-mate Phil Dollman, who himself agreed a similar deal last week, both will form part of Rob Baxter’s squad as they gear up for next month’s return to action in both the Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup....

Baxter's delight as 30 agree new deals at Chiefs

The forward-thinking of Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, has today hit a new level with confirmation that he has signed 30 of his senior squad to new long-term deals at Sandy Park.

With Premiership Rugby clubs agreeing last month to cut the salary cap by £1.4m from the 2021/22 season, Baxter and the Chiefs management wasted little time in securing the future of their crown jewels, including the likes of Stuart Hogg, Jack Nowell, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Henry Slade and the Simmonds brothers, Joe and Sam.

It’s a huge statement of intent from the Devon club and...

Walsh joins the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs have today added to their playing ranks with the capture of promising fly-half Jack Walsh.

The playmaker has agreed an initial one-year deal with the current Gallagher Premiership leaders, arriving in the Westcountry from Australia where he has been playing his club rugby at Manly Marlins.

Welcoming the 20-year-old on board, Chiefs’ Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, said: “He is one of those guys who has ended up here probably on the flip side of what was going on with COVID-19. We were looking at seeing what options were around and what would fit in and Jack...

Rowe 'overwhelmed' by support shown from Chiefs fans

Exeter Rugby Club chairman and chief executive, Tony Rowe OBE, says he has been overwhelmed by the support already shown by the club’s season ticket holders during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

With no rugby played since the Chiefs defeated local rivals Bath at Sandy Park back in mid-March, it’s proved a testing period for everyone as they look to get to grips with the crisis that has struck all corners of the world.

Thankfully, there appears to be a glimmer of light for all clubs, including the Chiefs, with a proposed restart date of Saturday, August 15.

Dollman agrees new short-term deal at Chiefs

Phil Dollman says he’s looking to end his Exeter Chiefs career on a high note after he this week agreed terms on a new short-term deal with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The popular Welshman’s contract expired at the end of June, but after discussions with Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, he is now extending his career with the Devon club until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

That means the 35-year-old will be part and parcel of the Chiefs mix as they look to resume their season in both the Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup next month.

“Fingers crossed we...

Hodge seals move to the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their back three options with the signing of highly-rated back Josh Hodge from Gallagher Premiership rivals Newcastle Falcons.

The 20-year-old is Baxter's fifth addition to his squad, joining the likes of Jonny Gray, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Aaron Hinkley and Corey Baldwin, in making the switch to Sandy Park.

Equally adept on the wing or at full-back, Chiefs' Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, has spoken of his delight at landing Hodge, who as well as being capped at both Under-18 and Under-20 level for England, also took up an apprentice role in Eddie...

White bids fond farewell to the Chiefs

Nic White says he will forever remember his time in Exeter, not just for the enjoyment he got from playing for the Chiefs, but from the warmth and support he received from the club’s supporters and the region itself.

After three memorable years in Devon, the 30-year-old and his family are heading back to his native Australia, ready to start a second stint in Super Rugby with his former club, the Brumbies.

As part of the agreement that saw him feature for the Wallabies at last year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan, it was agreed that White would return Down Under once his...

Holmes heads back to Oz

Greg Holmes says Exeter will forever hold a special place in his heart after he this week bid a fond farewell to Devon and life with the Chiefs.

Holmes and wife Alana are heading home to Australia, four years after arriving in the Westcountry from former club, Queensland Reds.

During that time, the popular 37-year-old forward has been an integral part in helping the Chiefs to continue to establish themselves as a force, not just within the English game, but also on the European stage as well.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Holmes was...
