BYD South West are excited to announce Exeter Chiefs player Immanuel Feyi-Waboso as an Official BYD South West Ambassador. Born and raised in Cardiff, Feyi-Waboso represents England at international level after qualifying on ancestry grounds.

Feyi-Waboso began playing with Rumney FC, before signing for the Cardiff Blues academy ahead of the 2020-21 season. In 2022, Wasps announced the signing of Feyi-Waboso. Following the Wasps’ expulsion from the league due to their administration, Feyi-Waboso was signed by Exeter Chiefs.

Devon housebuilder commits to providing Homes for Nature

A Devon housebuilder has signed up to a major new initiative to support wildlife on its new developments.

The Homes for Nature commitment will see a bird-nesting brick or box installed for every new home built, as well as hedgehog highways created as standard on every new development taken through planning from September 2024.

EVERYONE’S favourite family-friendly festival, the Dartmoor Folk Festival, returns from Friday, August 9 to Sunday, August 11.

Those who go along can enjoy the very best music, song and dance from Dartmoor and beyond - and many of the events and activities are free or by donation.

A beautiful little festival, it takes place in the villages of South Zeal and South Tawton.

It will be the 47th annual festival and top local and national folk artists will be attending.

Young carers from Devon, who attended this year’s Young Carers Festival with the support of Westbank, have told the charity they ‘had the time of their life’ at the annual event.

Through its Devon Young Carers Service, Westbank Community Health and Care supports more than 3,000 young people aged from 4 to 18 who help look after someone who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs and alcohol.

Through the generous support of local organisations, the service was able to take 18 young carers - accompanied by 3 staff members and one volunteer - to enjoy a weekend at YMCA Fairthorne...

A new season of events from workshops to discos, theatre to films, storytelling to markets, is coming to libraries across Devon and Torbay from August to October this year.

West Exe School , part of the Ted Wragg Trust , has celebrated Schools Diversity Week this term.

West Exe School’s Cultural Champions led the way in helping to design, create and sell badges to raise money for the school’s charity Exeter Food Action to help celebrate and support both diversity within their community and the wider world.

City plots route ahead as traffic barriers come down

The last of the traffic barriers from Exeter’s controversial Active Streets trial will be removed within days.

The‘filters’ in Heavitree and Whipton are being dismantled in Ladysmith Road, Park Road and St Marks Avenue on Wednesday and Thursday.

Devon County Council’sannouncement came as its highways and traffic orders committee (HATOC) heard calls for unity as the city tries to solve its traffic problems.

In June the committee suspended the trial early in the face of fierce opposition from the local community. It had been due to run until early 2025.

Visitors are invited to take a leisurely stroll through the glorious garden of Killerton this summer, taking in the sights and scents of the terrace garden now it's in bloom.

Karl Emeleus, Head Gardener at Killerton said: "Midsummer is a great time to visit as the mixed borders are full of colour.

South West businesses benefit from £11 million of loans in the past year

Start Up Loans, part of the British Business Bank, today announced that it has delivered more than £11 million of loans to businesses in the South West in the past financial year (2023-2024).

The scheme has a 12-year legacy of delivering funding to businesses who may otherwise find it difficult to secure loans from traditional lenders. The programme also offers mentoring to recipients in their first year. Since its inception in 2012, the programme has supported over 9,000 businesses through £90 million in loans in the South West.
