Coming together to support loved ones living with dementia

Barchester’s Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter recently held a Dementia Information Session led by the incredible Gina Awad BEM for their family members.

Gina is the Founder and Lead of Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and author of ‘United Caring For Our Loved Ones Living with Dementia’, and has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those living with dementia.

In doing so, Gina has contributed to many hours of supporting our local community and beyond since 2013 in delivering public and private Dementia information sessions to further enhance support networks and knowledge for those keen to learn more.

Mica, Home Services Advisor at Cumberland Grange Care Home, said: “Being able to offer more support to our family members is a really crucial part of what we do here at Cumberland Grange.

"We know that the families of our residents living with Dementia are also on a journey of navigation.

"We know that Dementia is a progressive disease and so it can be really difficult to see changes in their loved ones and know the best way to support them.

"So being able to have Gina here to offer a gentle and information session was very beneficial to our families.

"Our staff go through excellent Dementia Care training here at Barchester, but you never stop learning, so Gina will be back very soon to offer an information session to our staff as well as the community, too.”

Cumberland Grange Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cumberland Grange provides Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care.
